Trees are nature saver and optimize the environment of the place where they are present. The largest tree in the world is the main attraction for the people of all ages. According to recent research, the largest tree in the world is Giant Sequoia (General Sherman) in California, America. The tree is an inhabitant in the Sequoia National Park in Tulare County. The volume of the stems is the largest living single stem tree in the world. The scientific name of giant sequoia is (Sequoiadendron giganteum)
History of the Giant Tree
The name of the tree was given after the general William Tecumseh Sherman of the American Civil War. Until 1940, a tree near General Sherman, Crannell Creek Giant, coast redwood, was the largest tree in the world. But it was then cut down and Giant Sequoia replaced it. The prior tree was 15 to 25% larger than General Sherman.
The tree was discovered when the largest branch of the tree cut down from the tree accidentally and made a fence in the near walkway. The branch was L shaped or Golf-club shaped. There was no clear witness of the breakdown but now it is supposed that the branch cut off due to some abnormalities in the tree. It is believed that it was natural defense system of the tree against the adverse climate conditions. The branch was 30 meters long and 2 meters wide. The rings in the wood of tree showed that it is about 2000 years old.

Dimensions of the Tree
The largest tree in the world will have a wide dimensions range as well, but still, it is not the tallest tree in the world. The tree is not taller than Hyperion, nor wider than Cypress and nor older than Great Basin bristlecone pine. But still it is ranked as the largest tree in the world due to certain reasons that are present in the table below:
