Early Life
Don Adams is the brother of a well-known actor, Dick Yarmy, with the real name Richard. Both were the kids of William Yarmy and his wife Consuelo. The mother had faith in Catholic and father with the Jewish faith, both were brought up with a religion of single parent. Adams was born in Manhattan and worked as theater usher after getting dropped out from New York City’s DeWitt Clinton High School.
Adams actively participated in the Battle of Guadalcanal, by joining marine crops. Later on, he contracted blackwater fever, thus he had to quit the service as the disease was found to be 90% lethal. Therefore, he was dislodged from the duty and remained hospitalized for more than one year. After he recovered, he worked as Marine Drill Instructor in United States.
Later on, he married Adelaide (Dell) Efantis, having four daughters together. Taking a stage they worked as Adelaide Adams. Adams was married three times, with Adelaide Efantis, Dorothy Bracken, and Judy Luciano. His brother was an actor and his sister was a writer, Gloria Yarmy Burton. Adams has seven children, one of them is Cecily Adams who was an actress. She died at the age of 46 due to lungs cancer. One of his son, Sean Adams, also died at the age of 35 having a brain tumor.
Death History
Adams was having a lung disease, lymphoma. He died at the age of 84 in Cedars-Sinai Medical Center at Los Angles. On September 25, 2005. He didn’t want a mournful funeral as he said to Agent 99 in “Get Smart“, saying “Get me back to life”. He is entombed at “Hollywood Forever Cemetery.”
